Two Golds at Race Debut
Our first race day! Inlet Spirit and Inlet Storm together at Rocky Point Park.
On April 25, Inlet Spirit officially arrived on the race scene—and what a debut it was.
At the Inlet Spring Regatta in Rocky Point Park, Port Moody, both our Mixed Adult crew and our Youth Development team, ‘Inlet Storm’ took to the water for their very first race event. In a moment that exceeded even our own expectations, both crews brought home gold in their respective divisions.
For a team that has only been together a few short months—and a youth crew assembled just weeks ago—this result speaks volumes about our coaching and the incredible commitment, energy, and belief shared across our paddlers.
Building Something Special, Together
Inlet Spirit was founded on a simple idea: a love of paddling and a belief in community. Based in Port Moody, we set out to create opportunities for both youth and adults to grow, compete, and feel a sense of belonging on Burrard Inlet.
What we saw on race day was exactly that—teams coming together, supporting one another, and rising to the occasion.
A special thank you goes to FLCC Flash Dragons for collaborating with us to help fill our youth boat. That partnership is a perfect example of what community sport is all about.

A Remarkable Start for Our Youth Program
The success of our Youth and U24 crew is especially meaningful. This program launched only recently, and already we’re seeing incredible growth—not just in performance, but in teamwork, confidence, and connection.
We’re deeply grateful for the support of Port Moody Legion #119 and Maxilite Lighting, whose contributions have helped make this program possible.
And to Coach Linda, thank you for your leadership, preparation, and belief in this group. In just a few short weeks, you brought together a crew that raced with strength, unity, and purpose.

From Idea to Podium in Months
Inlet Spirit was born in November 2025. Since then, we’ve:
Built our first team
Expanded to include a women’s crew
Established ourselves as a nonprofit society
Launched a youth development program
To stand on the podium so early in our journey is something we’re proud of—but we also know this is just the beginning.
A huge thank you to our Technical Director and Head Coach Denise, whose guidance helped lay the foundation for where we are today.
Looking Ahead
We’re back on the water soon, racing next at the Burnwater Spring Sprints in Vancouver on May 2, where we’ll be fielding both a mixed and women’s crew.
There’s more work ahead, and we’re excited for it.
For now, we’ll take a moment to appreciate how far we’ve come—together. Inlet Spirit is just getting started.
