Inlet Storm is Brewing

Heading to the dragon boat! Weekday training is Tuesday / Thursday.

The energy is building on the water—and we’re excited to officially launch the next chapter for Inlet Spirit.

After two successful Try-It sessions on March 21 and 28, where new paddlers had the chance to experience dragon boating for the first time, our youth development program is now up and running. What started as introduction sessions has quickly grown into twice-weekly training, with a committed and enthusiastic group already forming.

Introducing INLET STORM

These recruitment paddles marked the launch of INLET STORM, our new Junior and U24 dragon boat team based in Port Moody.

INLET STORM is designed to:

  • Introduce youth to the sport of dragon boating

  • Build skills in a fun, supportive environment

  • Develop teamwork, confidence, and fitness

  • Create a pathway into competitive paddling

This is more than just a team—it’s the start of a youth paddling community in the Tri-Cities.

Why Dragon Boating?

Dragon boating is one of the fastest-growing team sports in the world. In a dragon boat, 20 paddlers move in sync, working together to power the boat across the water.

It’s a sport that combines:

  • Teamwork and connection

  • Strength and endurance

  • Focus and rhythm

  • And a whole lot of fun

Whether you’re new to sports or already active, dragon boating offers something unique—you’re part of something bigger than yourself from the very first paddle.

Join Us on the Water

As part of the program, paddlers will:

  • Paddle Tuesdays/Thursday (arrive by 4:30pm; on water 5–6pm)

  • Learn the fundamentals of dragon boat technique

  • Race in the Inlet Spring Regatta and another local event

  • Experience the incredible setting of Burrard Inlet

  • Meet other youth who share an interest in trying something new
