Celebrating Progress, Partnership & Spirit

Thank you to the Port Moody Legion!

On June 12, members of Inlet Spirit gathered at Port Moody Legion #119 for an evening of celebration, reflection, and camaraderie as we marked the progress of our inaugural season and thanked those who have helped make it possible.

We were pleased to be welcomed by Legion President Brenda Millar and enjoyed to a fantastic meal prepared by Legion staff. The food spread was absolutely off the charts and provided the perfect backdrop for an evening of conversation, laughter, and team building.

The gathering gave paddlers an opportunity to strengthen friendships, welcome some of our newest members, and pose for a group photo with our team banner and race jerseys. As a new club, these moments are especially meaningful as we continue to build our culture and identity both on and off the water.

Looking back, it is remarkable to see how much has been accomplished in just six short but very full months. Since launching Inlet Spirit, we have established a new paddling society, developed mixed and women's crews, and launched our first Youth Development Program. While it feels like we've already come a long way, we are only halfway through our inaugural race season.

We also recognize the success of our youth development program. The dedication and hard work of our U24 team, Inlet Storm led by Coach Linda has already produced impressive results, earning a Gold Medal at one event and a Bronze Medal at another during the program's first season. These achievements are a testament to the commitment of our young paddlers and the leadership that has helped guide them. We are excited to continue growing the program and look forward to its return in 2027.

The success of Inlet Spirit is the result of many people working together toward a common goal. We extend our sincere thanks to our volunteers, coaches, coordinators, paddlers, supporters, sponsors, and community partners. Each has played an important role in helping establish a strong foundation for the future.

As we continue through our first season, we remain focused on building a welcoming, inclusive, and spirited dragon boat community.

Paddles up to more evenings like this, stronger friendships, and many exciting races ahead.
