Inlet Spirit is proud and deeply grateful to announce that we have received a $5,000 grant from the Port Moody Legion in support of our Youth Development Program. These funds will go directly toward the purchase of a new dragon boat, helping our young paddlers train, grow, and compete safely on the water.
The cheque presentation took place on February 13, 2026, during the Legion’s popular Friday Night Meat Draw at Port Moody Legion 119 — a lively and welcoming community gathering that perfectly reflects the spirit of connection and service both organizations value.
Inlet Spirit would like to extend special thanks to Legion 119 president Brenda Millar for presenting the cheque and for her warm support of our growing youth program. The Port Moody Legion continues to be a favourite gathering place for many of our teammates, and we were honoured to celebrate this milestone at such a meaningful venue.
This year is especially significant as 2026 marks the Centennial of the Royal Canadian Legion. Many of our members are also members of the Legion and some of our proudly picked up the Legion’s Centennial hats during the evening — a great way to show support for an organization that has served communities across Canada for 100 years. We encourage everyone to consider becoming a member and supporting their local Legion by visiting legion.ca. Memberships are free for 2026.
Choosing to support a brand-new dragon boat team takes both vision and confidence. Dragon boating is built on teamwork, trust, and shared effort — values that align perfectly with the Legion’s commitment to community and youth development. This generous grant helps ensure that our youth paddlers have access to proper equipment and opportunities to participate in a sport that builds physical fitness, leadership skills, and lifelong friendships.
Thank you to the Port Moody Legion #119 for believing in our mission and investing in the future of our youth athletes. Your support is helping Inlet Spirit grow — one paddle stroke at a time.
The night servedas a perfect opportunity to thank the Legion, gather for a team photo and welcome of new paddling members.
